Commonly Asked Questions in the course
Q1. What is this course?
Lay Counselling course coordinated by Aapta Salaha Kendra is a
14-week course that introduces the topics in Lay Counselling.
This course is meant for the individuals who have interest in
working as lay counsellors. Lay Counselling is equivalent to the
first aid nurse in an Emergency room in a hospital. The role of
the nurse is to administer the first aid to the incoming
patient. If needed treat the patient with basic, common
medication. And if that does not work out identify the nature of
ailment and handover the patient, direct him to the right kind
of department or the expert. Lay counselling is quite similar.
We act as the bridge between the client and the doctors. If we
can handle the issues at our own level, we certainly try, but
while doing that we ensure that we handover the case to an
expert at the first opportunity, thereby helping both the client
as well as the expert.
